VERSUS is a unique curated group contemporary art exhibition focusing on emerging artists. The basic premise is initiated when two cities ‘compete’ with each other through art and, thus, create a dialogue with one another. The exhibitions are restricted to emerging artists that best  represent current trends in various contemporary media and who reside in the cities being showcased.

To provide a broad survey of art, the exhibitions set a goal of showing at least 30 artists covering painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, video and installation, as well as performances.  The intention is for the same exhibition to travel to both of the competing cities. The shows are curated by a board that includes galllerists and curators from the involved cities and by the QRATE team itself.

After a very successful debut exhibition in 2007 that had London taking on New York, several new VERSUS exhibitions are currently in the planning – including presently New York City, Sao Paulo, and Capetown over the 2010 and 2011 seasons.
